Yes, I was going to say something about chocolate...and the lack of it. I, of course, recommend anything with Theo as the inspiration. Yesterday, my purple friend and I stopped by Theo for their annual outdoor S'mores--homemade graham crackers, homemade square marshmallows and whatever chocolate you like. YUM! I will look forward to what you concoct and am sure it will be fabulous.

The margarita was not blended--I don't really like them that way--and was great, especially with the butternut squash enchiladas with mole sauce...

Hi Sara--Thank you so much! I'm so glad you came. Some chocolate is coming soon. I will definitely get in touch with Chef Ron. I would love to hear more about it! And holy cow, that margarita sounds amazing. Was it blended (a la Slurpee consistency) or shaken? This makes me want to go to Cactus tonight.

Hi Anne,
I finally made it to your blog and it is AMAZING!! Your pictures alone make me want to lick the laptop screen...I definitely should have come sooner.

Have you talked much to Chef Ron at FR lately? He is gushing after his summer of food learning at a farm and so excited about new ideas he has. I think you would be a much better person to fully discuss with him though.

Speaking of watermelon and cucumber, there was a special margarita offered at the Cactus restaurants this summer--I don't know if it's still there--that I was lucky enough to have 3 times. It was watermelon, cucumber, tequila...no lime or overly sweet stuff at all. It was fabulous!

Susan - Thank you so much!

Stacey - You are one of those people I love who shifted my watermelon paradigm.

Lovica - Good wonder. If you try it with jicama, let me know what you think! It would certainly add some more snappy crispness.

These look delicious and refreshing! I will have to try these next time we get a melon. I wonder if they'd taste good with the addition of jicama.

Hard to believe that I grew up in the south and I despise watermelon. For me, it's as much the texture as anything else. What can I say, I'm a freak. I will say however, that I find that photos of watermelon always look refreshing.

The rolls look beautiful though.

Hard to believe anyone could not like watermelon, isn't it? Well, I love it and your Summer Rolls look great! What a clever and creative dish! I sometimes use watermelon in salads, but this is such an interesting twist.
